So I hooked Mike up with $1300 hidden in First Niagara bank today. He knew nothing about it, his parents (who use Trustco) aren't going to find out. Apparently it was some kind of school savings account started with another bank ten years ago which FN bought out and Mike's parents forgot about.

Current weather: Raining, night.

I'm going to put that there from now on.

Tonight we initiated Nancy Yu and had some ice cream at my Friendly's. Then we went to Kingston (without anyone from the Kingston Division, sadly) and went to the _other_ abandoned cement factory Abby showed me. This place is cool cause you can really access it inside and out, and there are more buildings. You can go in the silo complex and look up forever, and the warehouses are big and one has two levels above it with catwalks and stuff. There are smaller stoprage buildings all over, some fallen iron line towers and other things, and the entire place is covered with graffiti- some very well-made- and the entire place is converted into a (non-commercial) paintball arena. In the day it reminds me of a Halo 2 multiplayer map. Abby really wanted to check it out at night to see how creepy it was and stuff, but although I like the night in general more this place really strikes me as more of a daytuime adventure because it's so outdoors and you want to see the entire place to get the effect of this ruin area going on in every direction. Things that are better at night are completely indoors, like the asylum.

They're finally here. Hot Topic is now selling fashion goggle-headbands, my favorite accessory for a long time. And they're actually designed to be headbandy, so they're far more comfortable than any of my goggles. I need to buy them once they come to their senses and stock tinted goggles.

I also finally bought the Schrodinger's Cat trilogy. Go me.

Now to spend the rest of my money on my speeding ticket =D

I'm working five days this week:

Tue-Wed 6-12, Fri-Sat 5-1 Sun 5-12, all evenings of course. I hope this sticks cause I'd like more money for, you know, paying off my small debts and then getting to buy cool things.

It isn't always something subtle, or just in your mind. It can be so blatant it amazes you how you could not have seen it before. And it isn't just something you do, it is something you are. Even doing it requires a new view of the world which much shape your personality. I have seen it, just what people are asking to see before they believe. I have felt it and known it and understood it. I'm an occultist for a reason.

Noone can really know anything, eh? That may be useful for humility, but how useful is it for anything else? How busy are you arguing that you never really know something, unable to actually commit to something and do it? How satisfying can anything be when you know that such a fact is subjective and transitory? Sometimes you should swallow your humble "knowledge" of knowing nothing and "know" things, because you can't do anything without some level of "knowledge."

Christianity talks about faith a lot. Not just believing something like you believe what someone tells you when you trust them, but an absolute, redeeming faith in the truth of something absolute, without proof. Early gnostic branches of Christianity diverged in, among other things, this point. Their namesake, "gnosis," means knowledge. It can be translated as knowledge as in to know a fact, information, or it can be translated as knowledge by means of experience. Like pistis, faith, to Christians, gnosis was a special, absolute and redeeming knowledge. The question is, does the path to salvation, in whatever form it may take, come with faith in the absolute or knowledge of the absolute?

I laughed up at the sky and the clouds and the sun, because even though she was gone... even though she was dead at this moment in time... I knew that somewhere within the fabric of the Universe, somewhere in the flowing river of time, she was still alive and happy and laughing. Somewhere in the past, we were still together and I was still holding her hand.

Me: The paragraph in your profile...

Just came back from twenty-four hours in Kerhonkson/Rosendale hanging out with Abby, Sierra, Joe, Sophie, Bryant and Shia. I left for there right after work Sunday night. Tomorrow I'm going to Washington D.C. with Mike, Garrett, Kimli, and anyone else who will come at the last minute. Friday through Sunday I have work.

Bryant and Joe, whom I never met before the cement factory/ never hung out with before are more fun than I expected. Thanks to Joe for letting me borrow the second half of Full Metal Alchemist! I was only up to episode 32 getting them transferred from Abby over AIM.

Nothing more detailed I feel like reporting at the moment.

Raf is a character in the RP I'm running on MZDM, whose cosmology is such that he is aware of the nazture of the Dream through the fourth wall, i.e. player-gods, though maybe not to the extent of being a forum site on the internet. His last post cracked me up:

Observation Deck – Ladies Restroom

“...well that’s unexpected,” Raf says as he reads though the one piece of paper. Looking down at the rest of the stack, the half breed decides he really doesn’t have anything better to do at the moment then to dive right in. And so he does, shifting and reading though the piles of paper, trying to make rhyme and reason from the story that it tells, not to mention why it’s telling it in a ladies rest room. After all, it had to be here for a reason, this was the Dream.

Yes, the Dream. As much as Suigin keeps on telling him not to rely on his own presumptions on how things work, some certain facts remain a clear certainty to Raf and one of them tells him that this was still the Dream... just the Dream pretending to be somewhere else due to some player god’s desire’s.

Actually, given Suigin’s central position throughout all of this, it was most likely his player gods, which in itself is enough to throw all rules out the window and then throw the window out itself for good measure.

But that’s all beside the point since despites these thoughts in his head, and the constant tension from the possibility that who knows what could burst in through the door at any second, Raf is using these precious moments by himself without things bursting though the door to try and make sense of the papers in front of him.

GARRETTEERS, ASSEMBLE!

Garretteers, the time is fast approaching! This Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is the Washington D.C. trip! Collect your money, food and spare clothing! More than $20 would be grand! $50 would be grand!

Mike! Heather! Kimli! Garrett! Kevin! Amy! Whoever else!

WAAAAIIIII!

We will coagulate Tuesday afternoon and probably head south sometime around sunset. This means we'll be arriving in Washington in the wee hours of the morning. We will find a hotel room for Wednesday night and, hopefully, for Wednesday day. You should get some sleep in the car 'cause we won't have a place to stay until the afternoon.

In Washington, there are historical monuments of all sorts open for free exploration and Evil Counciling. We will not need the car, as it has a highly effective metro system which is cleaner than Chicago's which, in turn, is far cleaner than New York's. It's also considerably less complicated.

To conserve money, bring your own food. I don't mean snacks, I mean food food. I, for one, will not be eating from any diner, fast food place, deli or restaurant.

For the entire trip, gas could cost almost $100, and the hotel room might be $150-250. More practically, we could have a hotel/motel outside of Washington for $50-150, but that could be out of metro range. Bring what money you can spare! =D

Work last night went by really fast somehow. Near the end, I was busy closing the service room and Jen (waitress) told me to change out the mop water for her (a 45 second task). I'd seen her standing doing nothing/talking for the past fifteen minutes, so I asked her if she was busy, and she said she wasn't doing anything but she wasn't going to change the mop water. I told her I was sure she could manage, and as she stood there and did nothing I got back to my work and the ice cream girl went and changed it so she could mop her own section. When I clocked out she was still doing nothing but complained loudly about me. I don't think anyone gave half a germ about her cruel suffering.

After that I got home and showered and headed to Kingston with the Garretteers where we met up with and initiated Abby, Sierra, Jessie, Bryant and Jessie James. That makes sixty-two initiated Garretteers. We went around this abandonded cement factory and I got to see Sierra's house, but we barely had any time 'cause people had to get home in the morning.

People at work seem to be interested in our adventures. More Garretteers? We'll be everywhere.

Now I'm talking to Abby and seeing if Sierra will come back online, I might be going back down there tonight.

Wow.

Last night was the crappiest night ever, _before_ I got a speeding ticket.

In other news, tonight was _awesome_. As if I didn't have a million bonus points at work already for being the Dishwasher Et Cetera Extraordinaire, I redoubled my reputation tonight.

The situation was thus. My brother Chris, assistant manager, returned to his almost never working schedule because school is starting up again, so now we are borrowing a manager from Niskayuna, Cynthia, whose first day here was today. She's a really good manager, so she wasn't a problem, but her first visit here was a doozy.

Tonight's cook, Chris (another one) didn't show up and noone has any idea where he is. Having no cook is a really big problem, because not many people are trained in it. The manager and Amanda, a waitress, were cooking most of the evening and because of the unusual number of customers we were also short waitresses.

Enter Adrian, dishwashing wonder.

Dishwashing is easy, and when you have someone like me on the job I always have a ton of time to do things I don't have to. I would literally be spending more than half my night doing zero if I had the work ethic of the other dishwasher, Jay. When I have nother else to do I clean and help out in general. Cleaning also tends not to take very long, even if I'm doing some crazy project noone told me to like washing the horrid staircase wall or the even more horrid regions behind the machines. Due to the workload, I began to dump the dishes brought in by the waitresses (they normally drop the food in the garbage and get the silverware out of everything before giving it to me). Then I got on bussing tables, changing other people's garbage, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning other people's areas, rotating ice cream, cooking, and I closed both the service room (normal) and the food prep area.

They weren't slacking and giving me their work for nothing; the manager and I weren't the only ones there after midnight. I got constant praise, from "thanks a lot" to "I love you, Adrian" from every single person working there.

I got my lunch for free. Since I knew how to cook, she said I could just go and make whatever I wanted for myself. I happily invented a supermelt involving some weird bread, some kind of white cheese, fried chicked, quesadilla chicken, lettuce, almonds, marinara sauce, and fronions. I'm either calling it the "Adriatic Supermelt" or the "Enigma Delicious." More importantly, everyone is yet even more impressed.

Job satisfaction.

Ego inflation... Not that restraunt work is really the thing to aspire to being the guru of.

Doesn't make up for getting a speeding ticket, though.

I haven't been getting enough time to myself lately, something which is as essential as sleep. You can stay awake and keep doing things, but you need sleep to hold yourself together. There is a lot more going on in my life than work and Garretteers. I need more time in my days.

I think things are different now, after tonight. Nothing happened to me, but somehow I feel different.

Journal: New layout, new info.

Just got back from two days in Pulaski with Mike, Heather, Garrett, and the local star of the show, Sammy. We poked around Pulaski, a farm town, and Syracuse, a big city with a huge mall. I'm not up for writing a detailed report right now and, as usual, I rpobably won't feel like it later. Mike usually writes long entries about adventures, and Sammy already wrote a summary: http://www.livejournal.com/users/gypsyonthemove/20770.html

In other news, I've recently realized that a crush I had on someone a few years ago never actually died, it was just suppressed behind my mind due to malnutrition. But it's still there. And somehow I also have a new crush out of nowhere.
